Planning an AI Video Shot Before You Spend a Single Credit
Most wasted AI video clips are not caused by a weak model. They are caused by a shot that was never planned. The prompt gets written in a hurry, the first result looks almost right, and then six more generations later
the credit balance is gone and none of the clips actually fit the slot they were made for.
The fix is boring and it happens before you touch a generator:

- Camera behaviour. Static, slow push-in, orbit and handheld are separate instructions. Leaving the camera unspecified is the single most common source of "it moved weirdly" results.
- Duration. A five second clip can hold one beat. Ten seconds needs a beginning and an end. Fifteen seconds needs a reason to exist. Choosing a duration first stops you from writing a prompt the timeline cannot carry.
- Frame geometry. A 16:9 landscape shot and a 9:16 vertical shot are not the same composition cropped differently. Decide the delivery surface before generating, not after.
A pre-generation checklist you can reuse

A pass condition turns "keep regenerating until it feels right" into a decision you can actually make. If you cannot write one sentence describing an acceptable result, the shot is not planned yet.

Evaluating a result honestly
Be suspicious of any clip you cannot describe in one sentence, and be equally suspicious of your own enthusiasm after the tenth render. A practical test: show the clip to someone who has not read the prompt and ask what happened in it.
If they describe the intended action, the shot works. If they describe something adjacent, the prompt is doing something you did not ask for.
